Buy a voice recorder. Today. A decent one costs $30 to $60, it will record your mother's voice at a quality nobody will ever complain about, and the recording you make this weekend is worth more than the pendant, which is $79 at the early price and ships in 2027.

The Connection Keeper, which you should know about
The Connection Keeper is a $20 recorder made for exactly this: one button, talk, keep. At the price it is close to disposable, and for a family that just wants a recording of Grandma it is a genuinely good buy. It does not pair with anything, keep a voice, or file anything into chapters, and it does not claim to. If that is all you want, it is a fifth of the price of the pendant and available now.
The problem with passive recording
Every device in that table, including ours, has the same weakness: it does what it is told, and nobody tells it. The recorder sits in the drawer. The voice memo app is two screens away. The story is told at Sunday lunch and everyone thinks "we should have recorded that" at about the moment it ends.
A recorder that is worn is the only answer we have found to that, and it is a partial one. A pendant at the collarbone is present for the story, charged, and one press away — which removes the finding, the switching on and the placing, and leaves only the pressing. That is still one step.
